Quanta Computer, a global manufacturer of advanced computing and cloud infrastructure, and Quantinuum, a full-stack quantum computing company, have entered into a collaborative development agreement to jointly develop hardware infrastructure for future generations of large-scale quantum computers. The partnership combines Quantinuum’s trapped-ion quantum computing technologies with Quanta’s systems engineering, manufacturing and global supply chain capabilities, with the companies seeking to establish the infrastructure required to move increasingly advanced quantum systems toward broader commercial and scientific deployment.

Quantum Helios, powered by Honeywell, is a trapped-ion quantum computing platform designed for enterprise, scientific and research applications.
Joint engineering work is already underway on next-generation hardware infrastructure intended to make future Quantinuum systems more modular, manufacturable and scalable. The collaboration is expected to address systems engineering and manufacturing requirements alongside the continued development of quantum computing hardware, creating an industrial pathway for scaling system architectures as Quantinuum advances toward large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing. This approach is designed to allow manufacturing capabilities, supporting infrastructure and supply chains to evolve alongside advances in quantum processor performance rather than being developed only after larger quantum systems become technically viable.
The agreement builds on Quantinuum’s development of commercially deployed trapped-ion quantum computers based on its quantum charge-coupled device architecture, including its Helios system, while bringing Quanta’s experience in industrializing advanced computing platforms into the quantum infrastructure environment. As quantum computers increase in scale and complexity, the supporting requirements extend beyond the quantum processor itself to include control systems, classical computing resources, electronics, mechanical systems and other infrastructure that must be engineered for reliable deployment and repeatable manufacturing. Quanta Computer and Quantinuum intend for their collaboration to help address these system-level requirements as quantum computing progresses toward wider enterprise and research use.
