Fujitsu Limited has announced a new strategic partnership with Anthropic PBC to accelerate trusted AI adoption across Japanese enterprises and strengthen cyber protection for mission-critical systems and critical infrastructure. The partnership, entered into on May 27, 2026, will combine Anthropic’s advanced AI technologies, including Claude, with Fujitsu’s industry expertise and experience building and operating systems in mission-critical domains. Fujitsu said the collaboration is intended to support full-scale AI transformation in Japan while contributing to the safety and reliability of social infrastructure, including critical systems.
The announcement reflects the expanding role of AI in sectors where reliability, security, governance, and operational continuity are central to adoption. Fujitsu identified government, finance, healthcare, defense, and critical infrastructure as sectors where advanced AI must be deployed with confidence, reliability, and sustained operational support.
Under the terms of the agreement, Fujitsu will first adopt Anthropic’s AI technologies across its own organization. Approximately 100,000 Fujitsu Group employees are expected to use Claude to enhance and accelerate operations while validating safe and secure AI usage in practice. Fujitsu said insights from this internal deployment will be used to help customers adopt AI through standardized approaches designed to support safety, transparency, and controllability.
The partnership will also give Fujitsu early access to Anthropic’s latest AI models. Fujitsu plans to use those models in customer solutions while combining them with its own AI technologies, including the Fujitsu Kozuchi AI platform and Takane, a large language model jointly developed by Fujitsu and Cohere. This multi-model approach is intended to support customer requirements involving data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, security, and performance.

Fujitsu said the partnership will strengthen its Forward Deployed Engineer model, which is designed to translate AI into tangible business value. The company has developed FDE expertise through collaborations with technology partners, including Palantir, and will combine Claude with Fujitsu’s industry knowledge, Kozuchi, and Takane to support AI implementation from use case design through deployment.
Cybersecurity is another major focus of the partnership. Fujitsu plans to advance cyber defense across enterprises, essential services, and mission-critical domains by shifting from conventional expert-dependent cybersecurity models to next-generation operations in which human expertise and AI work together to support faster response. The company also noted plans to collaborate with the Japanese government and apply knowledge gained from the initiative to strengthen security across society.
Fujitsu will build on existing work around safe and secure AI, including its AI Trust initiatives, while exploring the application of advanced technologies such as high-performance computing and next-generation hybrid computing platforms, including quantum computing, within advanced AI domains. The company said these efforts are intended to support the social implementation of AI that can be used safely and reliably in mission-critical environments.
Takahito Tokita, representative director and CEO of Fujitsu Limited, said the partnership reflects Fujitsu’s focus on translating AI advancement into practical societal and business value. He noted, “We see the rapid evolution and growth of AI as something that must be swiftly implemented in society and translated into value creation—this is a top priority for us as a technology company. Through this collaboration, we will combine Fujitsu’s deep expertise across industries and business functions—particularly its extensive know-how in mission-critical domains—with Anthropic’s advanced AI models. In doing so, we aim to support the creation of new value across industries and realize a trustworthy, AI-driven society.”
Yoshinami Takahashi, corporate executive officer, corporate vice president, COO in charge of Solution Services at Fujitsu, said the company will use Claude internally alongside its own AI technologies before applying those insights to customer transformation initiatives. He added, “Fujitsu will become Customer Zero by thoroughly utilizing Claude alongside its own technologies Takane and Kozuchi to fundamentally transform internal operations and development.
We will immediately apply the knowledge gained from this transformation to customers, enabling not just AI implementation but full business transformation. Through this partnership, we will further strengthen and accelerate our FDE model, ensuring that AI is continuously translated into real value through deep engagement with customer operations. This will accelerate structural transformation of business and enable a shift toward high-value-added business models. Through our own transformation, Fujitsu will strongly lead AI transformation in Japan.”
Paul Smith, chief commercial officer of Anthropic PBC, said the partnership reflects the importance of trusted AI deployment in Japan’s most critical institutional sectors. He noted, “The institutions that anchor Japanese society — its banks, its hospitals, its government, its critical infrastructure — hold AI to the highest standard. Fujitsu has been the technology partner to those institutions for decades, and they are now deploying Claude to 100,000 of their own employees and building a 1,000-person engineering team to bring it to their customers. This is one of the most consequential commitments to frontier AI in the Japanese market, and we’re proud for Anthropic to be the partner Fujitsu trusts to deliver on that commitment.”
